Distance Learning Orientation Sign-Up

Every distance learning instructor schedules a start-up session for their course.  This session is similar to the first class meeting of a traditional, on-campus course.

The session usually lasts one hour. You meet with your instructor and receive a course syllabus and information for the entire semester. The syllabus may include a weekly viewing and reading schedule, review and test schedule, and instructions for additional assignments. The instructor explains course requirements and procedures.

Class Schedule Requirements
If you are unable to attend the start-up session, you must have a copy of your schedule in order to pick up your start-up packet from the distance learning office.  You will also need your schedule throughout the semester to check out course materials from the Viewing/Listening/Testing Center (with your MCC id card), and to take any exam in the Testing Center (with a photo id). If you are finishing the work for a course in which you have a grade of “I” (Incomplete), you will need to show your grade sheet. There will be no exceptions to the policy. If you don't have a copy of your schedule, you can print it off from Web Advisor from any computer with Internet access: From the MCC main page, go to "Web Advisor," then "My Schedule" and you can print copies of your schedule.   You can also obtain your grade from WedAdvisor.

Signing up
Following is a complete list of courses offered with the start-up session dates, times and locations. Using your schedule to make sure you are signing up for the correct session, please review time and place and then sign-up for your session online. If you are unable to attend one of the live sessions, please contact the Distance Learning Office at 1-810-762-0224 or email us to find out how to start your course.
